Rites of Passage

Since moving to Asia in 2004, my photographic efforts have been an attempt to see and understand my newly adopted home in the context of existing as an outsider within it, and to reconcile both the differences and similarities that permeate throughout this culture and my own.

While my life continues to take many unexpected turns, finding itself as an elephant in the china shop capitals of the orient, I am continually inspired by the myriad of continuities that exist across the social and urban landscapes and the surprises one finds under the belly of the beast.

The work in this series is titled “Rites of Passage” and represents that journey.
